It’s Okay to Be Different
Hello! I’m Amy, the artist behind 3dancingllamasart, where I create what I call Imperfectly Perfect Art.
What is Imperfectly Perfect Art? It’s the way I describe the heart of my work—art that celebrates the flaws, the quirks, and the unexpected turns that show up in the creative process. I’m not a trained artist, and I don’t pretend to be. For years I’ve dabbled in all kinds of art and craft projects, and while my creative process is always evolving, pottery has become my preferred medium. There’s something grounding and magical about shaping a lump of clay into something meaningful, even (and especially) when it doesn’t turn out how I expected.
After transforming my basement into my personal art sanctuary—filled with my own creations and a few favorite pieces I’ve discovered out in the wild—I decided it was finally time to take a leap of faith and share my work with people who want to follow along on this journey.
Art is my therapy. I’ve lived with mental illness for as long as I can remember, and creating art brings me clarity, grounding, and peace when life feels heavy. When I began sharing my pieces—and the stories behind them—I realized how powerful art therapy truly is. Not only did it help me, but it also connected me with others who found meaning, comfort, or inspiration in the imperfections.
My story is always evolving, just like yours. My hope is that by sharing my pottery, my other works of art, and the little “aha!” moments along the way, you’ll be reminded that it’s okay to be different.
Join me on this journey.
Thanks for being here.
